CNC Plasma Cutter In-Person

CNC Plasma Cutter

The plasma cutter is a 2D metal cutting tool, essentially a light saber strapped to a robot. It's not as precise as a waterjet or laser, but it cuts BIG, thick, things fast.

In this training we'll use Adobe Illustrator to customize a desk organizer, import it into CAM for plasma cutting, cut the part out of sheet metal, and use the spot welder to tack it together.

Important pre-class information:

Please come dressed for the shop, in sturdy clothes and footwear. For welding, wear long pants with mostly natural fiber content.

The welding shop can get very loud. If you have favorite earplugs, bring them!

Arc welding generates high intensity electric fields and interference - if you have an implanted electronic medical device, please get clearance from your doctor before coming to class.
